Children have unique oral health needs at each stage of their young lives. As children grow, their needs change, and they require the support and help of a skilled and gentle children’s dentist in Amherst, NH.

Our team at Family Dental enjoys treating families and patients of all ages, from toddlers to teens and beyond. We believe in helping children lay a strong foundation for excellent oral hygiene so they can have healthy, happy smiles for a lifetime.

My Child’s First Dental Visit

We recommend you bring your child for their first dental visit by their first birthday or when their first baby tooth comes in. Though children this young may not have dental health concerns, it’s important we introduce children to the experience of being at our warm and inviting dental office.

This also allows us to meet your child, establish a relationship with them, and show them that dentistry can be fun and safe. It’s our goal to make sure your child is comfortable and relaxed so they can better adjust to the idea of coming in for future exams and cleanings without fear or worry.

Dental Care for Kids at Every Stage

Early appointments are also ideal for discussing any oral health concerns or questions about developmental milestones. Dr. Edwards and our caring, gentle team happily provide nutrition and oral habit counseling (for thumb sucking), as well as parent education on how to properly brush and floss their child’s teeth.

To promote optimum oral health, we recommend children see our dentist every six months. During these visits, Dr. Edwards will perform a thorough dental exam and gently clean your child’s teeth. This allows Dr. Edwards to look for early signs of decay and provide any necessary treatments such as fillings
