Your time is valuable. So is being able to enjoy good oral health. This is why your first appointment with Amherst, NH dentist Dr. Kenneth Edwards is such a comprehensive one. Because we understand that many patients feel anxious about visiting the dentist, we believe that knowing what to expect before you come in can go a long way in alleviating those fears.

Here’s what you can expect at your first visit with us.

#1—Patient Interview

We want to know everything we can about your medical history before we even get started, so we will ask you about any medical conditions—past or present. Please let us know if you have any allergies or if you are taking any medications. Our goal with this information is to help pinpoint potential problems before they become dental issues.

#2—Diagnostic X-Rays

X-rays are an important part of your first appointment because they will enable Dr. Edwards to spot problems that may not be visible in a regular examination.

#3—Teeth Cleaning

If we have allotted enough time at your appointment for a teeth cleaning, you will see our hygienist for this crucial part of your checkup.

#4—Dental Examination

After your teeth are clean, Dr. Edwards will conduct a tooth-by-tooth examination. He will also ask if you have been experiencing any problems and check to see if you are showing any signs of gum disease.

#5—Diagnosis and Treatment Recommendations

Dr. Edwards will discuss his findings and make recommendations for treatment. He will share educational materials you can reference so you can make an informed decision about your options.

We set up additional appointments for you while you are here, if necessary. We can also discuss payment options.
